The Importance of Zinc

Updated: 5 days ago

When it comes to mood and mental health, there is a lot of important nutritional information that we don’t talk about nearly enough, or at all, in our ‘sick care’ society. One that sticks out the most to me, is zinc.

Did you know?

Zinc is one of the most commonly deficient minerals, and the most critical nutrient for mental health.

Zinc deficiency is associated with schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, anorexia, hyperactivity, autism, and more.

People who don’t like vegetables are often people who are zinc deficient and don’t enjoy much of anything unless it has a strong sweet or spicy flavour.

Some factors that lead to not getting enough zinc, apart from not getting enough in the diet, are things like infections, stress, hormone imbalances, frequent alcohol consumption, excess copper.

If you have symptoms such as confusion, blank mind, depression, loss of appetite, lack of concentration, lack of motivation, you may be zinc deficient.

Understanding the root cause(s) of your mood issue(s) and addressing it/them directly, can make a huge difference in your quality of life and how you feel every day. I can help you get on the right track with holistic nutrition, and help you build habits that will keep you moving forward on your path to wellness.
